The December 2025 issue of L’Orgue Francophone contains an extensive article by the French organologist Roland Galtier on organ shutters. The immediate occasion for the article was the restoration of the historic organ shutters of the organ of the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Perpignan, dated 1504. Galtier’s article offers an overview of a subject that has received little systematic attention in the organ literature. The author discusses the construction types, the iconography, and the use of these shutters, comparing examples from various European regions.
