The Basler Psalmen of Daan Manneke
by Kees Weggelaar | Het ORGEL | Year 118 | (2022) | Issue 4
The Dutch première of the Basler Psalmen, composed by Daan Manneke in 2019, was on 25 September, 2021, in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. Despite the small size of the audience, we can still view this performance as an important event in the history of modern Dutch organ music. This extensive composition is a striking event in the later organ oeuvre of Manneke. Kees Weggelaar reviews the work.
On 4 June, 2022, the work was performed in the St.-Janskerk in Gouda, performed by Gerben Budding and Arjen Leistra, soprano Nanette Mans, and a vocal ensemble. You can hear the performance {the 2nd movement is omitted} below.
