The J.H.H. Bätz organ (1768) in the Petruskerk in Woerden

In 2018/2019 the organ makers Gebr. van Vulpen (Utrecht) carried out an extensive restoration of the J.H.H. Bätz-orgel (1768) in the Petruskerk in Woerden.  The consultant was Peter van Dijk (Utrecht), and for the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed in Amersfoort (RCE) Wim Diepenhorst was involved in the project.  The restored organ was reïnaugurated on 8 June, 2019.  The final inspection took place on 28 June, 2019.

In the article Peter van Dijk provides an overview of the organ’s history. He also considers the place of this instrument in the œuvre of J.H.H. Bätz, and discusses the recent restoration and the choices that had to be made.
