Jaap Jan Steensma Mold in organs: a serious problem? Report on a colloquium in Erfurt
Het ORGEL 114 (2018), nr. 1, 38-43 [summary]
Experts in Germany sounded the alarm a few years ago: our organs are rotting!
It is estimated that at least a third of all monumental organs (about 13.000 instruments!) is suffering. The Evangelische Kirche in Mitteldeutschland took the noble initiative of organizing an extensive research project, which began in 2014. At the conclusion of the project a colloquium was organized on 20 and 21 November, 2017, in Erfurt. Het Orgel was in attendance, provides this report, and inquires whether the problems are also observed in The Netherlands.
To help provide insight into the possibility of mold in Dutch organs, you can fill in a questionnaire, which you can find HIER
