Sietze de Vries In memoriam Cornelius Herman Edskes (1925-2015)
Het ORGEL 111 (2016), nr. 6, 30-33 [summary]
The organ expert Cor Edskes passed away on 7 September, 2015. His death marks the end of an era: he was the last survivor of a generation of organ experts who influenced the development of the art of the organ from the end of the Romantic period through the Orgelbewegung to the historical approach.
No other organ expert left us so much path-breaking and directional work as he. We need only mention a few of his memorable restorations and reconstructions: Cappel, St.-Petri & Paul (1977); Amsterdam, Nieuwe Kerk (1981); Groningen, Martinikerk (1984); Roskilde, Dom (1991), and Hamburg, St.-Jacobi (1993). World-famous instruments, the sounding witnesses of his great knowledge and erudition.
