Albert Clement The art of Buxtehude’s organ chorales. Part 2
Het ORGEL 109 (2013), nr. 3, 14-21 [summary]
The second part considers the question of how Buxtehude set the chorale ‘Nun freut euch, lieben Christen gmein’ in his chorale fantasia. There has not been much written about this, and most of what has been written attempts to show a relationship between the first verse of the text and the composition. This article however holds that the seventh verse of the text is the basis of Buxtehude’s chorale fantasia. The structure of the composition matches the text of this verse completely.
