Het ORGEL 104 (2009), nr. 2, xx-xx [summary]

On 7 and 8 November, 2008, the Orgelpark in Amsterdam presented its ‘Research Program’, a series of internationally oriented scholarly projects. The first project is ‘improvisation’. This subject was chosen because research about improvisation in Western Music is relatively scarce. And i fit does gain the attention of musicologists, the important position of improvisation within international organ culture is usually neglected. A research team, in which researchers from various conservatoria and universities will collaborate, will study the phenomenon ‘improvisation’ from music-historical, performance-practical and philosophical/esthetic angles.
