Aart Bergwerff The Organ and world music les extrêmes se touchent
Het ORGEL 103 (2007), nr. 6, xx-xx [summary]
World music is a hot item in The Netherlands. There are festivals, concert series, and even a radio station that give a lot of attention to world music, jazz, cross-over and new music.
In the organ world, however, world music has no role. Recital programs are very traditional. World music would be a good possibility to give the organ a worthy place in modern society. In the Lutheran congregation in The Hague, which comprises many nationalities, experiments with world music and world dance have assumed a natural place in the liturgy. The end meets the beginning.
