From organ yoga to organcore

New listening at the Orgelpark
During the second quarter the Orgelpark regularly invites audiences to practise new ways of listening. On 2 May there will be a workshop and two concerts centred on the concept of deep listening introduced by Pauline Oliveros; during the composers’ festival on 15 May Tymon Zgorzelski will lead an organ+yoga session and Jasmine Karimova will present her Suites for a Clown; on 17 May the hypnotic effect of the music of Ludovico Einaudi will be demonstrated by harpist Lavinia Meijer; and finally the annual international symposium will this year focus on organcore, featuring music in which, according to many organists, nothing happens, but according to its creators, everything does. One of the common threads running through these events is the question whether one dares to abandon one’s listening habits (or at least suspend them temporarily) in order to try others.
