Storm in de toren en achter het orgel
Jan Hendrik Storm played the carillon in Delft on a weekly basis, pegged the barrel, maintained the action, and was a popular citizen of Delft, not least because his playing embraced a wide variety of repertoire: he performed much of what was popular and readily recognisable. Storm was also a popular (church) organist. Details of his activities in that capacity are lacking, however, as are details of his education. It is likely that he gave organ concerts only occasionally, performing a mixture of original organ music and arrangements of piano and orchestral works. At funerals at Jaffa cemetery he played Åse’s Death by Grieg, but also movements from a sonata by Mozart, and, naturally, chorales.
