Petrus Veerkamp, a Frisian Organ Builder in French Service (Part 2 – Conclusion)

This second and concluding part discusses Veerkamp’s role as ‘directeur technique’ at the Mutin-Cavaillé-Coll firm and his significance for French organ building. Central to the article is the mechanical system for free combinations he developed, the “Veerkamp system,” which was used in several prestigious instruments. His contacts with the Netherlands are also highlighted, as well as the manuscript on organ building he wrote in memory of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, which was never published.
