Jaap Jan Steensma Lead corrosion in organ pipes. Report of a colloquium in the Orgelpark, Amsterdam
Het ORGEL 111 (2015), nr. 4, 20-25 [summary]
On 16 May 2015 a symposium was held in the Orgelpark in Amsterdam on lead corrosion in organ pipes. The National Monument Service (Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed, RCE) has studied the phenomenon in a first research phase (2012-2013) on the initiative of Wim Diepenhorst, specialist for Sounding Monuments of the Service. The meeting had three goals. Professionals in the field of the organ were informed about the results of phase 1 of the research project, about which the RCE has compiled an internal report. The possible course of phase 2 was announced. Finally there was a clear request of those present to keep the RCE informed of any suspicion of lead corrosion in organ pipes.
